The Project Makes Commercial Sense - You Just Need It Funded

Energy efficiency projects are some of the most commercially logical investments a business can make. Whether it's LED lighting, power factor correction, voltage optimisation, HVAC upgrades or a combination of technologies, the numbers usually speak for themselves,  reduced consumption, lower bills, measurable payback.

The problem is rarely the technology. It's getting the project past the budget meeting.

Why Viable Projects Stall

Your installer has done the work. They've surveyed the site, specified the equipment, and shown you the projected savings. But internally, the project is competing against everything else the business needs to spend money on.
Capital budgets are finite.
Even when a project pays for itself in 3 years, finding £50,000 or £200,000 upfront can feel like a big ask when there are other demands on the business.
The project doesn't die, it just doesn't move. And every month it sits unfunded, you're paying energy bills you don't need to be paying.

A Finance Approach Built Around the Project

We understand energy efficiency projects from the technical side.
We know what a power factor correction unit does, why LED upgrades deliver such fast payback, and how voltage optimisation reduces consumption without changing anything else about your operation.
This matters because it means we can present your project to lenders in a way that makes sense, structured around the operational savings, not just the asset cost.

We work with specialist lenders who understand energy projects and can assess them on their commercial merits.

One Project or Several Technologies

Some businesses come to us with a single technology, a lighting upgrade or a PFC installation. Others have been quoted for several improvements that together form a wider energy strategy.
If you're in the second camp, you don't necessarily need to fund each technology separately. A single finance facility covering the whole programme can be simpler, faster, and may present a stronger commercial case to lenders.

But if you've got one project and one quote, that works too.
We're not here to complicate things.

Your Installer Stays in the Picture

We don't specify work, we don't recommend one technology over another, and we don't get between you and your installer. They've done the technical work, we help get it funded so they can get on site and deliver it.

Frequently asked questions

A wide range - LED lighting upgrades, power factor correction, voltage optimisation, HVAC improvements, building management systems, insulation, and motor replacements are all common. If the project reduces your energy consumption and has a measurable payback, it's likely financeable.
Poor power factor means your electrical system draws more current than it needs to do useful work. Your supplier charges you for this through reactive power charges (shown on your bill as kVAr charges). Power factor correction equipment reduces these charges, often delivering payback in under 2 years. It's one of the fastest-returning energy investments available.

Some projects may qualify for unsecured commercial finance depending on your business profile, trading history, and the strength of the commercial case. The projected energy savings and payback period are key factors lenders consider.

We'll be honest with you about what's realistic for your situation.

We typically work with projects from around £10,000 upwards. Below that threshold, the finance structuring costs don't always make commercial sense. There's no fixed upper limit = we've seen multi-technology programmes well into seven figures.

Yes. If your energy strategy involves LED lighting plus power factor correction, or voltage optimisation plus HVAC upgrades, these can often be structured within a single finance facility. One application, one set of paperwork, one monthly payment. This can also present a stronger commercial case to lenders because the combined savings are larger.

Not necessarily. Tenants can fund energy efficiency improvements depending on the lease terms, the landlord's consent, and the remaining lease length. The key question is whether the business will benefit from the savings for long enough to justify the investment.

Timelines vary depending on project complexity and the lender, but straightforward projects with clear specifications and strong business profiles can sometimes complete within 2-4 weeks. Because we understand the technical side, we can prepare applications without the back-and-forth that slows down generalist brokers.

Many energy efficiency technologies qualify for Enhanced Capital Allowances, allowing businesses to claim 100% first-year tax relief on qualifying expenditure. The Energy Technology List maintained by government specifies which products qualify.

Your accountant can confirm the specific position for your business.

Typically: your installer's proposal or quotation (including projected savings), recent company accounts (usually 2-3 years), and basic details about your business. We'll tell you exactly what's needed after an initial conversation - we don't ask for mountains of paperwork upfront.

Banks offer general business loans. We work with specialist lenders who understand energy projects and can assess them on their commercial merits - including the projected savings.

This often means better terms, faster decisions, and a higher approval rate for energy projects specifically.

That's the aim - to structure repayments so they're covered (or largely covered) by the energy savings the project delivers. Whether this is achievable depends on the specific project, but it's the starting point for how we think about structuring the finance.

Yes, that's exactly where most of our conversations begin. Your installer has done the technical work. We take their proposal and find the right funding structure to get the project approved and installed.
